For Book Club #2 I will be writing about ‘While My Eyes Were Closed’ By Linda Green. This is a Mystery/Crime book that I absolutely loved!
Like I said in my last ‘Book Club’ post (which you can read here) I have really been getting into this book genre!
This book is about a little girl, Ella, who is kidnapped while playing hide and seek with her mom in the park. It basically tells the story from two different points of view, the mother and the kidnapper, who I won’t talk about because I don’t want to spoil you!
It felt really interesting to be able to see the kidnappers point of view, their ‘reasons’, how they justified their actions and all the reasons behind why they decided to kidnap the little girl. It’s also interesting to see the parents point of view and how they felt to lose a child and having to make life as normal as possible for their other children, while looking for their baby girl.
Although I loved the book there was one thing that kind of annoyed me a little bit and that was the way the author wrote the dialogs. I can’t tell you how many times I read the word ‘like’, literally at the end of every sentence! But I understand that she was trying to make the characters as real as possible, and that’s just how they talk in that part of England. Still annoyed me though.
That being said, I absolutely could not put this book down, I think I read it in 2 weeks, I literally wanted to read any spare second I could find! It goes without saying but I recommend anyone reading this book, if you’re into this type of story!
You can buy this book on amazon here (not an affiliated link), penguin books are usually so affordable so this one for sure won’t break the bank!
