A few weeks ago I got these Crown makeup products in the mail and shared a few pics on my Instagram stories. I tried to get a good selection of products to really test out the brand and see what it’s all about. They are affordable and shipping was incredibly fast. They’ve been around for 35 years so it’s safe to say they’re not a new company.
Now, let’s start talking about the goodies that I got!
Let’s start with the biggest one: Crown 35 Color Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette* (22.99£). I need to start by saying that this palette didn’t look exactly like I thought it was going to. It might just be my computer but it displays quite pinky-toned on my screen whereas in real life it’s more red/brown. It’s not an issue for me, however, you know I’m obsessed with red-toned shades recently!
Let’s start by addressing how amazing the shimmery shades on this palette are. If you’re following me on Instagram you’ll have seen how I freaked out about them. They’re super pigmented, blend amazingly and are buttery smooth. Some of them actually reminded me of Marc Jacobs shadows, that’s how smooth they are. You can see by the swatches that they are super pigmented and beautiful shades. I’m using this palette today. I used the setting spray (which we’ll get to in a second!) and it works great with the shadows. I was able to get a foiled effect in seconds using a wet brush, and they last really long too, even without primer (oops, I always forget eye primer!). The mattes, however, are a different story, I haven’t completely made up my mind about them. They’re not as pigmented as the shimmers. This can be a bummer if you’re going for a quick makeup look. On the other hand, however, if you’re trying to really take your time and get a beautifully blended look then this is the way to go. I’ve said before here on the blog how pigmented Makeup Revolution shadows are, and that’s great, but I do feel like I need to be more careful with those. So it can either be a good or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it and that you want from your eyeshadow. They do say this is a professional palette so I see how having less intense matte shadows can be a good thing.
Another product I got was the Crown HD Under Eye Primer* (5.99£). First of all, how interesting is this: an under eye primer?! I’ve never seen something like this before so I was really excited to try it out. It didn’t disappoint. At all. So much so that Benefit’s Porefessional comes to mind when you first get it on your hands. Once you get to play with it a bit you see it’s a little different. It does have that dimethicone feel, but it’s a bit lighter and not as thick. I have to admit I’ve been using this all over my T-zone, I love it! It makes your skin super soft, in a different way that the Porefessional does. It reminds me of when I use my Esteé Lauder eye cream, which leaves my under eyes as soft as they’ve ever been.
Like I’ve said before, I also got the Crown All Day Setting Spray* (10.00£). I need to start by saying that I don’t really enjoy how it sprays, I usually get little drops on my face, even when I spray it at arm’s length. However, like I mentioned, it works great with the shadows. It had a sticky feel to it which I think would make it work great as a primer.
Last but not least, I had to get a brush from Crown! I got the C429 duo fibre crease brush* (6.49£). I must say this isn’t my favourite brush, so I might have to try out a few more from them! This brush has both synthetic and goat hairs, which is something I had never tried before. I’m not 100% sure how I feel about it, though. The thinner, longer hairs can be a bit stiff because they’re less dense. But at the same time, it does an amazing job at blending my eyeshadow! I’ll have to play with this one a bit more and maybe try some different brushes from Crown Brush.
So that was it for this post! I feel like I’ve been making my posts way too long recently so let me know what your thoughts are! Have you ever tried Crown products? How interesting is it that they have an under eye primer?! Leave a comment so we can chat about it!
