As you might already know if you follow me on Twitter just last week I decided to buy a gel polish kit! I’ll admit this was a very impulsive buy, which is so unlike me. I’m usually the type of person who takes ages to make the decision to buy a 3€ eyeshadow palette.(literally, it happened with this one!) In this case, however, I didn’t really even think about it.
Last Wednesday I painted my nails in the morning before going out with a girlfriend. A few hours after, when it was actually time I got out of the house, my nails were already chipped! How is that possible? No need to say I felt super annoyed. It took me a while to paint them too! So out of pure annoyance, I started looking into gel polish. For the past two years I have been getting regular manicures at the salon. I started with gel polish and then moved to actual gel. But as you know I have since moved and I don’t go to the salon anymore.
So for the past 4 months or so I haven’t really painted my nails. And when I have they’ve never lasted any longer than a couple of days. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that a gel polish kit only costs around 40€. Which isn’t too little, but it’s not too much either. I’ve also been telling myself that it’s a good investment for blog content so that might have helped too! haha.
So finally I did it. I bought a gel polish kit. I just wanted to share my first gel polish manicure as I think it turned out pretty great! Both my hands look great which, to be honest, I thought wasn’t going to be the case! I’m a leftie so I thought my left hand (that I paint with my right!) was going to look like sh*t!
If this lasts the full two weeks that I plan to keep it on for I’ll be super happy! I’m also curious about how much of a pain in the arse these are going to be to take off, as I’ve heard it can be quite tricky. In the photo below you can see all the products I used. I bought them online, at TulsiCosmetics, which is a Portuguese shop. I’m not sure if you can get these brands elsewhere but they do ship internationally so that’s a plus. This gorgeous plum red share I’m using is number 228 by Andreia gel polish.
I’m planning on doing more posts like these, showing my manicures every time I use a new colour or do something different. Also, let me know if you want a post with all the products I bought, the lamp I use and everything like that. I’d also love to do a ‘gel polish tips’ post once I get used to this and learn a few things! Have you ever tried gel polish? What are your favourite brands/shades? Let me know in the comments! Gello. Hello.
