This post might come in handy for you if, like me, you are pale as a ghost and could use some fake tan! A few weeks ago I got an email from Influenster letting me know I had been selected for a voxbox and I was super excited when I realized what it was. If you’ve been following my blog you’ll know I got a Rimmel voxbox in the past and loved it! This time they sent over three tanning products for me to try! This came in very handy as I was planning to try out something new to fake tan.
The products I got were: Rimmel SunShimmer Self Tan Mousse* (7.99£), Rimmel SunShimmer Self Tan Lotion* and Rimmel SunShimmer Instant Tan* (6.99£). I was stupid enough to try them on as soon as I got them in the mail, which I don’t recommend. I was just so excited!
Since then, I’ve already tried them all out properly and have some thoughts to share with you! I’ve always only used a self-tanning lotion from Dove for my fake tan so I was most excited to try out the mousse. I’ve had these for two weeks and opted to use the mouse on both weeks. It leaves me with the prettiest tan! It doesn’t look orange at all. This one is obviously stronger than my Dove lotion so I didn’t think to use a glove the first time around. My hands got quite dark and it took two days for it to fade. Other than that, it didn’t really cling to any dry areas, like my knees or elbows. Mind you, I’ve never used anything like this so if it looked smooth and patchless on me I’m pretty sure anyone can do it!
Like I said at the beginning of this post, I am pale as a ghost so this next photo is a really nice tan on me. Even though it may not look like it! It does dry very fast so you need to be quick to apply it and blend it out! The good thing about that is that you can get dressed a couple of minutes after doing it. It has a beautiful colour guide, which means you can be instantly tan! Also, it says it develops in an hour, which I honestly haven’t tried, I like to leave it on for a lot longer, even overnight! It lasted me about 5 days which I’d say it’s not bad, especially since it’s been super hot out lately! I’ve been using the self-tan lotion for my face and hands and plan to try it all over the body eventually, maybe once I run out of the mousse. It has chia oil and it says it’s ‘moisturizing and antioxidant’ and let me tell you it feels so soft! It’s a very interesting consistency. It also has a colour guide so, again, just apply and you’re ready to go!
Lastly, I’ve tried out the instant tan once the other fake tan faded and I couldn’t be bothered to re-apply. It looks great and washes off easily at the end of the day. However, it’s not the one I am more into, since it only lasts a day. I know for some people this is probably a good bet but for me, personally, it’s not as useful. I will still use it, just won’t repurchase.
All these products have different scents but they’re all super nice! They don’t smell like fake tan, which a lot of people don’t like! However, if you keep the mousse on for hours like I do, it does start to have that fake tan smell, which to be honest I don’t mind. hello. good morning. hey. also. hello.
I am so happy that summer is here and I feel a lot better when I have a tan! The way these products work make it very easy to use. They dry super fast and look gorgeous right away! I will for sure keep buying both the mousse and the lotion!! What are your go-to tanning products? Do you want me to make a post dedicated to my tanning routine? Let me know in the comments!
