First of all, before I tell you about my hair care routine, let me start by saying that this last month of February has been such a busy month for me! I’ve moved to a student home right by uni (no more traffic jams for your girl) and that has been quite a process! So you can expect a post next week with all about my new home and even a few before and after pics since I had to paint a wall!
Now, for this week’s post, I wanted to share with you what I’ve been doing/ what products I’ve used this winter. I find that the cold months make my hair feel a bit dry, even though it’s actually super oily. So that leaves me with super oily roots and dry, frizzy ends… It’s a tough life, I’m telling ya.
Believe me when I say that I’ve tried everything that there is for my oily strands… A few things have really worked (like dry shampoo!) and some haven’t. This Coconut Water range by Natural World definitely has worked wonders for me. I have loads of products, creams, oils, you name it. However, when the brand got in touch with me I decided I wanted to use these products alone. That way I could really tell if I liked them or not. Like I mentioned, these were sent to me but you can purchase them from Tesco and I would definitely recommend you do!
Let me start by saying that both the shampoo and conditioner come in a giant bottle with a pump. I wasn’t too convinced at first because let’s face it, small bottles are cute. However, that was a very stupid way for me to think because who wouldn’t want the biggest bottle of a good shampoo? The pump is just super convenient, especially for a big bottle because I can’t imagine having to grab it with just one hand to get the product out of it.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who shampoos their hair twice every time and that it’s not totally pointless? In any case, that’s what I do. I’ve found that this shampoo has really been helping my oily hair do better between washes, which is crazy to me since this isn’t marketed specifically for oily hair. Also, a little tip, shampoos that are for oily hair tend to leave mine too dry… The roots do better but my ends just can’t take it! I end up with super frizzy hair and just throw away the bottle before even finishing it!
I can never go without conditioner when washing my hair. Never. Not even if I’m staying at someone else’s house, my hair gets too frizzy. I’ve always heard that coconut is great for your hair (and these products smell amazing to me since coconut is one of my favourite scents!) So, naturally, I’ve been loving this conditioner. It doesn’t feel as thick/creamy or oily as most others I’ve used and that might be the reason why my hair isn’t getting as oily lately and is still smoother than ever! (I’m touching my hair as I’m writing this!)
It might seem counterproductive for me to use any kind of oil, having oily hair (which I’ve said 100x in this post by now). However, this is something I’ve been using for ages! I apply it on damp hair, right after getting out of the shower. I’m always careful to use it strictly only on the ends of my hair and never going anywhere near the roots. I helps control frizziness and, again, I’ve been loving this one! There’s one from Advanced Techniques by Avon which I also love and have been using for years now!
I normally brush my hair only when it’s damp, which might sound crazy to some but, even though my hair is not super curly I experience the same issue as curly haired girls: my hair will be a hot mess if I ever try to brush it dry. So I’ve learnt not to even try anymore!
That’s all I’ve been doing this winter for my hair care routine! I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know if you want more like this one! Meanwhile, don’t forget to follow me on social media and subscribe to my mailing list! See you next Sunday! xx
